Injury problems for the Toffees
Everton boss Marco Silva has given an injury update on several first-team stars, ahead of his side’s clash with Watford this weekend.
The Blues started the campaign at Selhurst Park, facing off against Crystal Palace last week.
While much was expected of Everton, the Toffees struggled to make their dominance count and had to settle for a draw.
They did so in difficult circumstances, though, after a plethora of selection problems.
Fabian Delph suffered an injury in Everton’s final pre-season game against Werder Bremen, ruling him out of the clash with Palace.
Andre Gomes then had to be substituted at Selhurst Park after sustaining his own injury.
Jean-Philippe Gbamin had to deputise, despite having only spent one week with the team.
Finally, Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off for a second bookable offence, creating a midfield selection crisis for Everton.
Now, Marco Silva has given an update on his injured players ahead of the clash with Watford.
Delph out, Gomes a doubt
Speaking ahead of this weekend, Marco Silva has confirmed that Andre Gomes is a doubt for the game.
He also confirmed that Fabian Delph will not feature, despite being spotted in training pictures this week.
“There is still a doubt with Andre Gomes, let’s see how he will be tomorrow,” Silva explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“Fabian Delph is still out, but Leighton started working with the team during this week. All the others are ok.
“I hope he [Fabian] can start with the team next week. But let’s see at the beginning of the week if he will be in a better condition.”

Silva was also asked about a potential debut for Alex Iwobi.
While it sounds as though he’s in contention, Silva was giving nothing away.
“He’s working really hard and well, like all the others, and it’s up to me to decide if he will be in the squad list,” the Everton boss explained.
