Marco Silva hoping for more new Everton signings before August 9

Everton manager Marco Silva has revealed in his programme notes that he is hoping for more new signings before the transfer window closes next Thursday.

The Toffees have already made three new additions this summer including Richarlison from Watford and Lucas Digne from Barcelona.

Silva’s side are preparing for their final game of pre-season this afternoon as they take on Spanish club Valencia CF at Goodison Park.

Next Saturday, Everton open their Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Silva is hoping to have some new faces for his first competitive game in charge of the club.

The Toffees have had a far more relaxed summer following last year’s disappointing transfer window in which a number of their new additions were deemed largely unsuccessful.

The club have this summer made two very impressive additions in the form of Richarlison and Digne, whilst Kevin Mirallas, Wayne Rooney, Funes Mori, Joel Robles and Ashley Williams have departed.

Now, Silva is looking to add to his squad having admitted in his programme notes against Valencia:

“Even though we have a good nucleus, with our expectations we have to add some more to the squad and I hope we can do this before the market closes.”

Everton are considering making an offer for West Ham United defender Reece Oxford, according to Sky Sports News.

It is understood that the Toffees’ bid would be in the region of £3m for the player who spent the last two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Hammers are willing to offload the 19-year-old this summer, although they will only consider offers in the region of £10m, Sky Sports News add.
