Idrissa Gueye

Marco Silva hopeful of keeping Idrissa Gueye this summer

Can Silva keep hold of Gueye?

Everton boss Marco Silva is hoping the club can keep Idrissa Gueye at Goodison Park with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Gueye was the subject of much speculation during the January transfer window.

Following his impressive performances for Everton since joining from Aston Villa, Paris Saint-Germain reportedly tried to acquire his services.

However, for whatever reason, the move didn’t happen and Gueye remained at Goodison.

Shortly after, Gueye admitted his disappointment at not joining Paris Saint-Germain.

Though, he may get the chance for another big move this summer.

Manchester United have already been linked with a move for the midfielder.

Now, Marco Silva has admitted that he’s hoping to keep Gueye past the summer window.

“We must do everything to keep our best players”

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Liverpool Echo, Silva claimed that he is hoping Everton can convince Gueye to stay.

Though, he didn’t want to get into specific rumours surrounding Gueye’s future.

“I hope we can keep him at our club, but for me, it’s normal if other clubs have interest in him because he’s having a fantastic season,” Silva explained.

“About rumours, I don’t want to talk. I think it’s normal that some clubs might be looking at him because he’s doing very well.

“It’s my job to have this impact on our players, to see them developing to play better.

“We must do everything to keep our best players.”
