Just what Silva needed
Marco Silva has been backed by Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri after a very poor run of form which led to criticism from much of their fan base.
The season started off with so much optimism from the Everton fans.
A new manager with positive football philosophies, their first director of football in Marcel Brands, a great first transfer window and more brought back the feel-good factor at Goodison.
That stayed all the way up until December when Everton’s form dipped dramatically.
Following their last-gasp loss to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby Marco Silva has found wins hard to come by.
Even now the club are struggling to find their feet and performances continue to get worse, as emphasised against Wolves on Saturday.
That has led to much criticism from the Everton fan base who are now starting to question whether Silva is the man to take them forward.
However, there is no doubt in majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri’s mind currently.
“In this business, you have to hold your nerve”
That is because speaking to Jim White on TalkSPORT, Moshiri backed Silva to turn it around in the long-term.
He also explained following fan criticism that ‘in this business, you have to hold your nerve’.
“We want young players to develop – they need to play. Marco Silva is a talented coach but he’s planning long-term.
“He will coach and develop those young players and every year those same young players will become stronger.
“In this business, you have to hold your nerve.”
Should things not improve and fast, that opinion could change very quickly.
