Gueye remains an Everton player
Marco Silva has been speaking about Idrissa Gueye today following intense interest from Paris Saint-Germain over the past week or so.
Gueye has been pivotal for Everton since signing from Aston Villa following their relegation to the Championship.
That has lead to interest from several elite clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain.
The Paris club were heavily linked with a move for Gueye in the lead-up to transfer deadline day.
It was even reported on deadline day that PSG upped their offer for the player.
However, the bid was rejected and Gueye will now finish the season with Everton.
“They never told me to sit and prepare to replace Gana”
Some questions still remain over how far interest for Gueye went.
Not only that, whether Gueye will be able to forget about the PSG move and concentrate at Everton.
Now, Marco Silva has suggested that interest never got far enough for him to start considering replacements and he has no doubts Gueye will get back to his best at Everton.
“There’s not much to talk to you about, I am not the owner of the club and I don’t know the contacts from PSG,” he explained, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
“They did some [enquiries], but the feedback I had from our board was they never told me [the transfer] would be done.
“They never told me to sit and prepare to replace Gana. With this information I give you, you can make your own conclusion.”
“I know him very well and he is a good professional and a fantastic boy.
“He enjoys playing at our club.
“When one club like PSG come forward, a player normally starts to think about his future but the market is closed now and I have no doubts we will see the same Gana again.”
