Marco Silva confirms Kurt Zouma’s Everton loan deal nearing confirmation

Nearly over the line

Everton boss Marco Silva has confirmed that a deal to bring Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma on loan for the season is nearing confirmation.

The Frenchman spent last season on loan with Stoke City but was unable to prevent them being relegated to the Championship.

That left him heading back to Chelsea where new boss Maurizio Sarri was taking up the reigns.

There were certainly no guarantees that he would get into the squad with several options at the Italian’s disposal.

That seemingly left him available for a loan move after it was reported on deadline day that Everton had agreed a season-long loan with Chelsea.

Though, there was very little time to get a deal done with only a couple of hours left in the transfer window.

Everton were reportedly able to submit a deal sheet which allowed them until 7pm to complete a deal.

They are said to have completed that before 7pm and now are awaiting ratification from the Premier League over a deal.

Schalke & Kurt Zouma

Close

Now, boss Marco Silva has confirmed that a deal to bring Kurt Zouma to Everton is close to being confirmed.

Speaking in his press conference today, he explained that “It’s almost done. Not official.”

While he would not talk much further on Kurt Zouma, he did reveal that a deal to bring the Frenchman to Goodison would not include an option to buy.

That would see the player return to Stamford Bridge next season.

Zouma will not be the only deadline day signing for Everton.

That is because Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes also joined the club on deadline day.
