Marcelo Bielsa provides Raphinha injury update after Leeds’ draw with Wolves

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has provided a brief update on the wellbeing of Raphinha, on the back of his side’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Rodrigo hits back

The Whites were of course back in action a short time ago.

On the back of a dismal opening to the campaign, which had seen them secure just a solitary win from eight, Bielsa and co. welcomed in-form Wolves to Elland Road in the knowledge that a positive result was an absolute must.

And, when all was said and done, Leeds, to their credit, managed to secure a share of the spoils.

A hard-fought 90 minutes saw visitors Wolves open the afternoon’s scoring early on, when summer addition Hwang Hee-chan slotted home from close range.

The hosts, however, despite the absence of a host of key performers, fought back in impressive fashion over the course of the 2nd-half, eventually culminating in Rodrigo bagging a deserved equaliser deep into injury-time:

One concerning development on an otherwise largely positive afternoon for Leeds, however, came on the personnel front.

Early in the 2nd-half, wide-man Raphinha, who had looked by some distance the hosts’ biggest threat to that point, was forced to limp off, owing to a heavy challenge on the part of Wolves’ Roman Saiss.

The Brazilian was spotted heading straight down the tunnel with a helping hand from a pair of physios, sparking immediate concern surrounding a potential spell on the sidelines.

In turn, speaking in his post-match interview a short time ago, Marcelo Bielsa was inevitably asked for an update on the wellbeing of his star attacker.

And the Leeds boss went on to confirm that Raphinha has picked up ‘a knock’, albeit the extent of which is not yet clear:
