According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca this afternoon, Real Madrid have secured a deal with Real Betis over the signature of midfield talent Dani Ceballos, beating off competition from fierce rivals Barcelona.
Ceballos, a 20-year-old Spanish midfielder, has been on the radar of Spain’s biggest clubs for some time now, with the technically-gifted starlet’s sensational performances at the recently-finished U21 European Championships only serving to further raise the profile of the Betis standout.
Last week, it was reported that Barcelona and Real Madrid had been joined by fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid and Serie A giants Juventus in the chase for Ceballos, with the versatile midfielder’s 15 million Euro release clause sparking a bidding war between the sides.
However, as per the aforementioned report, the race for one of European football’s most sought after youngsters looks to have come to an end, with Champions League holders Real Madrid the beneficiaries of the news.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have secured a deal worth 18 million Euro with Real Betis, while Ceballos will put pen to paper on a long-term contract that will keep him at the Bernabeu for the next 6 seasons.
An official announcement on the transfer is expected tomorrow.
