Germany go in front v Ukraine
World Champions Germany kicked off their Euro 2016 campaign on Sunday night against Ukraine.
The first half was excellent, and both sides had plenty of chances at either end.
Manuel Neuer came to Germany’s rescue in the opening exchanges, when he was lively to Yevhen Konoplyanka’s long range effort, which he turned over the bar.
But for all Ukraine’s early endeavor, Germany took the lead in simple, straightforward fashion: a brilliant free-kick from Champions League winner Toni Kroos, was headed home by Shkodran Mustafi.
It was Mustafi’s first goal for his country.

Sweeper keeper Manuel Neuer
A terrific photo was taken at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille when Mustafi scored his maiden goal for Die Mannschaft.
Manuel Neuer is well known for his ability to basically play as a sweeper keeper for Bayern Munich.
Neuer often stands way outside his box when his team are on the attack, and so it was against Ukraine when Germany went 1-up.
