Manuel Lanzini’s West Ham comeback
It’s been a rough few months for West Ham playmaker Manuel Lanzini.
At one stage this summer it looked like Lanzini would be a key player for Argentina at the World Cup.
However, on the eve of Russia 2018, the West Ham star suffered a bad injury.
Lanzini was ruled out of the World Cup after suffering a ruptured anterior knee ligament injury in training.
The South American has since had surgery, and this week the Argentine has returned to West Ham’s training ground.
Richard Collinge, the head of West Ham’s medical department, has provided the following update on Lanzini:
We’re really pleased for Manu and it’s great to have him back. He’s now at the three-month stage, so I flew out to see Manu and his consultant Dr Cugat at the weekend and the doctor is very happy with his progress after three months.
Rehab-wise, we have a plan in place and Manu is very disciplined and very motivated and we’re moving in the right direction.
West Ham have refrained from announcing any specific comeback timetable for Lanzini.
However the player himself has previously indicated he hopes to return this season.

Some English media have said that my injury will make me miss next season, that there were problems with the surgery… none of this is true. The surgery went really well. Although I don’t want to set a date, I expect to be ready to play at the beginning of 2019, that’s my goal for the next months. Thank you all for your support 👏🏼💪🏼⚒⚽️🙏🏼
Andy Carroll injury update
When will Andy Carroll be fit again?
The former England international is currently sidelined with a knee problem. He’s also been under the knife this summer.
Richard Collinge has also given an update on the Hammers centre-forward:
Andy Carroll is progressing really nicely and he’s going to start doing some work on the pitches this week, so he’s making really good progress.
West Ham vs Everton
To be clear, Carroll will play no part in West Ham’s match at Everton this weekend in the Premier League.
Also out of the Everton game is defender Winston Reid. Reid is out with a knee problem.
