Liverpool vs Man United
Manchester United travel to Anfield in Sunday’s late kick-off as they look to end Liverpool’s unbeaten league run.
After Manchester City beat Everton on Saturday, Liverpool now need to beat an out of form Man United to return to the top of the table.
But Liverpool will likely have to face Man United without Trent Alexander-Arnold who suffered an injury vs Napoli.
On TAA’s injury Klopp has stated:
“We have to see. For him, it is day by day how we judge it.
United currently sit in 6th place in the table and are unable to move up to 5th place with a win.
However, they can put some distance between themselves and the likes of Wolves and Everton who are eyeing 6th place.
United have won just one of their last five league games and lost 2-1 in midweek vs Valencia.
So, they will not be full of confidence heading into Sunday’s game.
Man United injury update
Ahead of the game though, United do look like they could have some key players back in the matchday squad.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Jose Mourinho stated:
“In Valencia, only [David] De Gea and [Nemanja] Matic were available to play and didn’t travel.
“Apart from that, the players that didn’t travel were not fit to play.”
This suggested that the likes of Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof would all miss the Liverpool game.
It has since been revealed that Diogo Dalot, Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial were all at United’s team hotel on Saturday, suggesting they will feature vs Liverpool.
Injury doubts – Diogo Dalot, Matteo Darmian, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial – were all pictured at the team hotel on Saturday. Victor Lindelof could also make a surprise return ahead of schedule. Mourinho initially hoped that the defender would RTP around Christmas. #MUFC
