Darmian hints at Italy return
Matteo Darmian joined Manchester United in 2015 from Serie A side Torino for a fee of around £16 million.
Since joining United Darmian has played 88 games across all competitions for Man United, in which he has scored one and assisted four.
However, the past couple of seasons have seen Darmian spend much of his time on the bench.
Darmian made just 17 appearances for Man United last season, only eight of which came in the Premier League.
The 2018/19 campaign has been no better for the Italian as he has featured just three times for Jose Mourinho’s side this season, the latest of which was in United’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Darmian’s contract with Man United is also set to run out in July of 2019.
Given his lack of game time, he is unlikely to be offered a new deal.
Also, in a recent interview, Darmian dropped a big hint that he could be returning to Italy:
“I must say, I really do miss Serie A and Italy now. I know that I am at one of the best clubs in the world and I am proud to be at Manchester United, but I do miss Italy. I love my country.”

Diogo Dalot to be United’s right-back for next 10 years
Darmian’s chances of regaining a regular starting spot have also taken another blow recently.
19-year-old Diogo Dalot has been playing as United’s main right-back for the last few weeks.
Dalot was particularly impressive in United last game vs Fulham and received a lot of praise from fans.
The youngster also received backing from Mourinho who had this to say about Dalot:
“Probably he can follow Neville in this dynamic of more than 10 years as United’s right-back, with amazing conditions to improve, because as I was saying he’s 19 years old.”
