Marcus Rashford’s camp reportedly unhappy with Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after “prioritise football” comments

Marcus Rashford’s camp reportedly unhappy with Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after “prioritise football” comments

Rashford marks return with a goal

Marcus Rashford returned from injury with a goal against Leicester City but could not prevent the Red Devils from slipping to a 4-2 defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Englishman, who made his first start of the season following shoulder surgery, beat the Leicester defensive line to level the game at 2-2, but two late goals from Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka ensured that the goal ultimately was in vain.

However, it was off the pitch words that are thought to have a lasting impact on the Manchester United forward.

“Prioritise football” goes down badly

Rashford is of course renowned for his work off the pitch, a voice for free school meals and a role model for children worldwide. However, for Solskjaer, it was seemingly too much, with the United boss saying ahead of the Leicester clash:

“He is coming into the best age for a footballer and he’s got a challenge on his hands here at Manchester United – and has a challenge on his hands to play for England”

“Marcus has done some remarkable and fantastic things, but now he maybe needs to prioritise his football”

And now, as per The Athletic’s David Ornstein, this has not gone down well with the forward and his entourage.

The report continues that “Solskjaer’s comments that Rashford should “prioritise his football” have gone ‘down badly with those who believe Rashford could hardly put greater emphasis on his sporting career’.”
