Jose Mourinho has been called the biggest issue for Manchester United, after one his his most controversial and divisive periods at the club.
The United boss has seen his side fall 11 points behind Manchester City in the title race – and also lose in the EFL Cup to a lower league side – not to mention hitting out at certain players and of course sparking a tunnel brawl with Manchester City after their latest league loss to boot.
Now, Tony Cascarino has claimed Mourinho is the biggest problem at the club and upsets everyone – but the players eventually see him off.
“The biggest issue for United is Jose Mourinho,” Cascarino explained to The Times.
“I thought he was harsh on his team after the Carabao Cup defeat by Bristol City.
“He has hung his players out to dry when he needs every ounce from them. I didn’t like it.
“Mourinho will upset everybody — the people upstairs, the opposition, fans — but it’s always the players who do him in.
“Their reaction over the next few weeks will be interesting.”
The one thing United would be lacking should they sack Mourinho would be viable options at this point, and they clearly know that – and it seems that while it may not be a long term plan to keep Mourinho or even for the manager to want to stay for decades, but for now the board know Mourinho is their best chance of success.
United will invest in their squad once again in the transfer window, and there are rumours that come the summer, they will bring in even more players and the likes of Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann have been mentioned – and given the world class stature of the players, Mourinho would see the expectations at United rise even further next season.
