Could Manchester United move for Maguire in Jan?
Leicester City boss Claude Puel has warned Manchester United against a January move for defender Harry Maguire after interest in the summer.
The English defender was the subject of much speculation over the summer.
Maguire had impressed throughout last season but his stock rose exponentially when he travelled to Russia for the World Cup.
The player was pivotal in England’s run to the semi-finals under Gareth Southgate.
Though, when he returned, his name his constantly in the headlines.
That is because Manchester United were looking to sign the player.
However, Maguire remained at Leicester and even signed a new deal.
“I think we will not have a problem this winter
Now, even if Man United move for the player in January, they are likely to be frustrated again.
That is because Leicester boss Claude Puel has warned them off a move for Maguire.
The Frenchman has claimed that Maguire decided to remain with the club until the summer and he expects no problems in January.
“We cannot have guarantees but I think Harry decided this summer to remain with us and play with us for another season,” he explained, as quoted by the Mirror.
“He is happy with us and saw the quality of the team and its ambition.
“Harry is a valuable player for the club and it is important to keep our best players and maintain our ambition this season.
“I think we will not have a problem this winter because we have a good squad with good guys.”
