Manchester United suffer yet another injury blow vs Southampton

Manchester United 3-Southampton 2

Manchester United hosted Southampton on Saturday in a 3 pm kick-off.

After Arsenal drew with Tottenham earlier in the day United knew they could move into the top four with a win over Southampton.

The Saints headed into the game two points above the relegation zone.

Southampton had won their previous outing vs 19th place Fulham but they were winless in four games before that.

Despite their poor form, it would be Southampton who took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to an absolute rocket from Yan Valery.

Man United would respond in the 53rd minute with a screamer of their own from Andreas Pereira.

Romelu Lukaku then gave Manchester United the lead just six minutes later.

In a game full of sensational goals James Ward-Prowse equalised for Southampton in the 75th minute with an excellent free-kick.

Lukaku then added his second of the game to claim all three points.

Alexis Sanchez limps off

Despite battling back to beat Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side, United suffered yet another injury vs Southampton.

Heading into Saturday’s game United were without the likes of Andreas Herrera, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones.

With both Martial and Lingard out injured, the out of form Alexis Sanchez started in United’s attack.

Sanchez would have little impact on the game before eventually suffering an injury of his own in the 52nd minute.
