Manchester United squad latest for Crystal Palace clash

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided a brief fitness update on his squad, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Crystal Palace.

Solkjaer’s men are set to get their Premier League campaign underway tomorrow evening.

The English top-flight of course kicked off last weekend, with 16 of the competition’s 20 clubs having been in action.

Manchester United, though, along with neighbours City, were granted a late return, on the back of their European endeavours last month.

As such, the Reds Devils’ opener will come on Saturday the 19th, in a meeting with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

United latest

Ahead of their meeting with the Eagles, meanwhile, widespread speculation has been doing the rounds in the media over recent days, regarding the wellbeing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.

Some outlets even went as far as to suggest that United could be without the services of as many as 11 players this weekend.

Such a scenario, though, based on Solskjaer’s latest comments at least, appears unlikely.

Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, the Red Devils boss first confirmed that defenders Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe (both of whom were unlikely to feature versus Palace anyway) remain short of full fitness:

Phil Jones is still out

Axel is not 100 per cent back with us yet, but he’s on the grass running, which is a positive.

Regarding the rest of his squad, meanwhile, Solskjaer went on to add that, though United’s stars are at ‘different stages’ in their respective training schedules, there are currently no major injury concerns to be dealt with:

Apart from that, we don’t have any serious injuries, but, as we’ve said, the players are at different stages of their training programmes.
