Italian outlet Calciomercato have today given Manchester United a boost in their pursuit of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
Milinkovic-Savic has been attracting a lot of attention from some of Europe’s top teams this summer and now his agents, Mateja Kezman and Uros Jankovic are keen to ensure that their client is at a top club by the end of the 2018 summer transfer window.
In Italy, Juventus are the main club looking to sign the Serbian but Spanish giants Real Madrid are also looking into him.
However, it is Manchester United who Calciomercato are reporting to be readying a huge bid for Milinkovic-Savic.
Milinkovic-Savic moved to Lazio in 2015 from Belgium side Genk for a fee of around £16.2 million.
Since arriving in Italy Milinkovic-Savic has played 122 games for Lazio, scoring 24 and assisting 20 in that time which is a solid record for a central midfielder.
Milinkovic-Savic also has the ability to play as a central attacking midfielder and has experience in the Europa League where he scored two and assisted three for Lazio in eight games last season.
After Manchester City comfortably won the Premier League this past season, it was clear Manchester United needed to invest if they want to truly challenge for the title in the upcoming season.
United have certainly been trying to do so as they have been linked with numerous players already this transfer window.
United are still in the market for a central defender with Toby Alderweireld one of their main defensive targets this summer.
The Red Devils have signed Porto right-back Diogo Dalot. And they have also signed Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred for around £50 million and signing Milinkovic-Savic would certainly help improve their attacking threat next season.
