The Mirror is today reporting that Manchester United could be set to launch a £44 million bid for Croatia and Frankfurt star, Ante Rebic.
Rebic began his career in Croatia with RNK Split for whom he played 57 games, in which he scored 16 and assisted six.
The Croatian would then move to Fiorentina in August of 2013 for a fee in the region of £4.05 million.
However, Rebic only made 12 appearances for Fiorentina, in which he scored three times.
Due to his lack of first-team opportunities at Fiorentina, Rebic would be loaned to RB Leipzig and Hellas Verona. But both of these loan spells did not go well for the 24-year-old.
Rebic would then be loaned to his current club Frankfurt who signed him on a permanent deal just 16 days ago for around £1.8 million.
Rebic has played 56 games for Frankfurt, scoring 12 and assisting five in that time.
He is also a very versatile attacker. Rebic’s natural positions is left wing, however, he can also play right wing, centre-forward, and central attacking midfield.
Rebic also enjoyed a very successful World Cup. He was a key member of the Croatian attack and played a big role in them reaching the final for the first time in their history.
After Manchester City comfortably won the Premier League this past season, it was clear Manchester United needed to invest if they want to truly challenge for the title in the upcoming season.
United have certainly been trying to do so as they have been linked with numerous players already this transfer window.
The Red Devils have signed Porto right-back Diogo Dalot. As well as Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred for around £50 million.
And now it looks as though Rebic could be United’s latest summer signing as they look to challenge City.
