Pogba’s time in Manchester
After impressing with Juventus, Manchester United bought Paul Pogba back from the Serie A outfit for £89m.
Despite his hefty price tag, though, Pogba has not had the best time since returning to Old Trafford.
The 2018/19 campaign was a rather up and down ride for the Frenchman.
Pogba started the season wearing the captain’s armband in United’s first two league games.
However, Jose Mourinho quickly stripped him of the armband, and Pogba’s form was rather poor for the remainder of Mourinho’s tenure in Manchester.
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took charge, Pogba’s form was quickly rekindled, and he looked to be one of the top midfielders in the English top-flight.
But after an initial positive spell, Pogba’s form soon declined again, and he scored just two and assisted none in United’s last 10 PL outings in 2018/19.
Man United want £180m
Pogba’s agent then gave the following update on his client’s future, and his desire to leave:
“The player [Pogba] has done nothing wrong.
“He has been respectful and professional in every way and always.
“The club has known his feeling for a long time.
“It is a shame other people only like to criticise without the right information, and I am also sorry that the club does not take any position against this.
“Hopefully there will be soon a satisfying solution for all parties.” As quoted by TalkSPORT.
After Mino Raiola’s comments about Pogba wanting to leave, the Mirror is reporting that United have now raised their valuation of the Frenchman to £180m.
United are said to be angry with Raiola, due to him going public about Pogba’s desire to leave.
The midfielder only made the bench for United’s first preseason friendly vs Perth Glory on Saturday.
