Man United’s poor defence

The 2018/19 season will be one to forget for Manchester United fans.

The Red Devils would finish in a dismal 6th place in the Premier League, missing out on Champions League football.

Meanwhile, their two closest rivals, Manchester City and Liverpool, were busy winning the domestic treble and Champions League.

One of United’s biggest problems, among many, was their inability to keep a tight defence.

Throughout 38 league outings this past season, Man United let in a staggering 54 goals, the worst defensive record in the top nine clubs.

This also marked the most goals that Man United had ever let in during a single PL campaign.

As a result, United really needed to improve their defence this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have already completed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

Now, their pursuit of Harry Maguire looks to have taken a step in the right direction.

United have been continuously linked with Maguire recently.

And on Sunday, the Daily Mail is claiming that Maguire has told Brendan Rodgers and his teammates that he wants to leave the club.

The Mail does maintain that Man City are still in the picture for Maguire, but they are less likely than United to match the Foxes’ supposed £75m asking price.
