Jurgen Klopp celebrates Liverpool win at West Ham

Manchester United legend backs Liverpool for sixth Champions League

Dark horses

One Manchester United legend has tipped Liverpool to go all the way in the Champions League this season after progressing to the quarter-final stage.

The Reds sealed their way through to the next round after a 0-0 draw with Porto at Anfield on Tuesday.

They had already put five past the Portuguese giants with a 5-0 aggregate score the final result.

Though, with the form that Liverpool are in at the moment, some are backing the side as the Champions League dark horses.

With almost all of the top sides still left in the competition, it would certainly be a big ask for the Reds to seal their sixth Champions League.

With the form that Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino ae in though, you certainly wouldn’t put it past them.

Now, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has actually tipped Jurgen Klopp’s side to go all the way this season.

‘I think they have got the potential to [go the whole way]. You wouldn’t want to play Liverpool,’ Ferdinand said on BT Sport last night.

‘It doesn’t matter who you are in this tournament now that front three, when they are on fire, that intensity.

‘Going to Anfield – a difficult place to go – the pace they have got in that team, they are going to be a hard proposition for any team in this tournament.’

Liverpool and Real Madrid are the only confirmed sides to go through to the quarter-final stage.

Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all looking to be the next English side through.
