Lining up Romelu Lukaku’s replacement?
Manchester United are reportedly willing to trigger the release clause of Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder, with the striker viewed as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford recently.
The Belgian endured a difficult campaign last season and lost his place in the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
As a result, Lukaku has been linked with a move to Inter Milan to join up with Antonio Conte.
The striker’s agent even confirmed Inter Milan’s interest this week, as well as outlining Lukaku’s desire to join the San Siro outfit.
“Lukaku is a dream and is not easy to realize it… but yes, Inter are trying to get him. Romelu has expressed his wishes (to leave Man United),” he explained.
Now, Manchester United have been linked with Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder as his replacement.
Ben Yedder to Old Trafford?
According to ABC Sevilla, Manchester United could make a move for Ben Yedder if Lukaku leaves.
It is said that the Frenchman has a €40 million release clause and is ‘very much to the liking of the current Manchester United coach Ole Solskjaer’.
Ben Yedder had an impressive return of 30 goals and 11 assists in 54 games this past season, and would be a good signing for Man United.
However, the report claims that if no offer ‘that satisfies both the club and the player’ is received, Ben Yedder will remain in Seville.
For now, Man United will likely be waiting to see what happens with Romelu Lukaku before making a move.
