Manchester United handed massive fitness boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Manchester United handed massive fitness boost ahead of Tottenham clash

Manchester United need a result

The next three Manchester United fixtures are, quite literally, make or break for boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

After overseeing one of the most humiliating defeats of the Premier League era last Sunday, 5-0 at home at the hands of Liverpool, his future is in doubt.

As per Jason Burt, of The Telegraph, Solskjaer has three games to save his job, namely the Premier League ties against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, and Champions League clash against Bergamo outfit Atalanta.

They are the most important games of his coaching career.

Raphael Varane pictured back in training

Ahead of the must-win game for the Red Devils this weeknd, they have been handed a massive boost on the injury front. This comes as Raphael Varane was spotted in first-team training, having not played since the last international break.

The centre-back limped out of France’s Nations League campaign with a hamstring problem, and has been sidelined since. However, in the photos released by the club this afternoon, the summer addition is clearly visible training with the rest of the squad.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already come under fire for rushing Harry Maguire back from injury, with the defender arguably at fault for over half of the goals that the club have conceded since his return against Leicester City.

Given the magnitude of the Tottenham showdown for his own future, however, it would not be at all surprising to see the United boss do the same with Raphael Varane, who offers some much needed calm at the back.

Would his presence be enough to get the Red Devils a positive result on Saturday evening?
