Martial and Lacazette’s names are joined by the likes of Dimitri Payet, Karim Benzema, Kingsley Coman, Adrien Rabiot and Aymeric Laporte not heading to Russia this summer.

Instead, Deschamps opted for the likes of Thauvin, Giroud, Lemar, N’Zonzi and Rami as the French go in search of just their second World title.

Back in 2016, both Premier League forwards Martial and Lacazette were hot names in France’s European Championship squad, however, following disappointing seasons, neither make the cut.

Whilst Lacazette began to hit form only towards the close of the 2017/2018 season, Martial has struggled under Jose Mourinho at United making just 18 league starts.
