Manchester United fans unhappy after blowing chance for top spot

Big chance not taken

Manchester United fans are not happy after their side blew the chance to win their Champions League group following Juventus’ loss to Young Boys.

It’s not been a great season for Jose Mourinho’s Man United so far.

There have been several poor results in the Premier League but they haven’t played too badly at times in the Champions League.

They looked set to finish second in the group before the game against Valencia tonight with Juventus expected to beat Young Boys in Switzerland.

However, Juventus handed Jose Mourinho’s side an incredible chance to top the group as they fell to a 2-1 defeat.

That meant that should Manchester United have beaten Valencia at the Mestalla then they would qualify as group winners.

Though, that was simply not to be the case and fans are not too happy about it.

Manchester United blow it

That is because Man United fell to a 2-1 defeat in Spain following a disappointing performance.

Valencia took the lead through midfielder Carlos Soler with Eric Bailly unable to get in the way of his shot which found the far corner.

It was made even worse when Phil Jones scored an incredible own goal just after halftime.

Sergio Romero came storming off his line to stop an attack but Phil Jones tried to pass it back to him, instead, putting it past him and into his own net.

Safe to say, he won’t want to see that again tonight.

Manchester United then looked to get at least one back and they did that late in the game as Marcus Rashford scored in the 87th minute.

Though, it was too little too late and did very little to paper over the cracks.

The simple fact was that this was a massive chance blown for Manchester United who could have given themselves a more favourable draw.

Instead, they could face one of the European giants and fans aren’t too happy considering they had their fate in their own hands.
