Victor Lindelof

Manchester United fans slate Ray Wilkins for Victor Lindelof comments

Manchester United fans rage at Ray Wilkins

It has now long been forgotten that Ray Wilkins played for Manchester United from 1979 until 1984.

A fine playmaker in midfield, with very little pace, Wilkins was a fine footballer for a host of big clubs, including Chelsea, AC Milan and QPR.

These days Wilkins is a pundit on Sky Sports and in recent hours has come in for some serious criticism over his thoughts on Manchester United’s new defender Victor Lindelof.

Michael Keane v Victor Lindelof

Manchester United announced an agreement with Benfica to sign Victor Lindelof on Saturday evening.

Personal terms and a medical have still to be agreed, but Manchester United’s long running chase for the Swedish defender is finally over.

When discussing the Lindelof deal, Wilkins went full “Brexit” and argued that Manchester United would have been better brining Michael Keane back to Old Trafford.

Wilkins goes “full Brexit”

What strikes you from the video below is that Wilkins has pretty much no idea how much Lindelof cost, nor how much Keane would be to sign from Burnley.

And, what is certainly true is that Wilkins has no idea how successful Lindelof has been with Benfica and the Sweden Under-21 side.

Cue plenty of hate on Twitter for a Sky Sports pundit that simply looks out of touch with the current transfer market and the European market.
