Manchester United dealt major blow as key defender injured vs Atalanta

Manchester United have been dealt a major blow on the personnel front during their meeting with Atalanta on Tuesday evening.

Man United are, of course, currently locked in Champions League action with Serie A outfit, Atalanta.

The Red Devils headed into the evening’s action top of their Champions League group.

As a result, a win over Atalanta would hand Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. some much-needed breathing room and all but guarantee their spot in this campaign’s Champions League knockout rounds.

However, at the time of writing, this does not look set to be the case, with the visitors currently behind thanks to a strike from Josip Ilicic:


Raphael Varane injured vs Atalanta

To add to Manchester United’s woes on the evening, they have, as mentioned above, been dealt a major blow on the personnel front.

Raphael Varane has only recently returned from an injury he picked up during the October international break.

However, the Frenchman has now been dealt another injury blow, which forced him off after just 38 minutes against Atalanta:
