Manchester United dealt blow as Luke Shaw limps off in first half of Villa clash

Luke Shaw v Swansea

Manchester United in action

Bizarrely, Manchester United are currently in action in a second 12.30 fixture, playing host to Aston Villa in a game that is running alongside the main bill of Chelsea vs Manchester City.

You can read about why this is happening here.

The Red Devils have named a strong side following their Carabao Cup defeat in midweek, recalling David De Gea, Raphael Varane and of course Cristiano Ronaldo to their starting XI.

Despite the strong team, however, Solskjaer’s side reached halftime without scoring, and with Aston Villa having had the best chance of the game and arguably deserving to be ahead.

Luke Shaw limps off in injury concern

One major concern for the Red Devils, however, will be in the form of an injury sustained by their first choice left-back Luke Shaw.

The England man has been in good form since he returned from the European championships, making five appearances and registering an assist. However, on the half hour, the 26-year-old went down and had to be replaced by Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot.

With Alex Telles providing a stark reminder of why he was second-choice in Ole’s mind against West Ham, it remains to be seen just how Manchester United can cope without their influential Englishman.

Can Manchester United get through their next few fixtures without the cavalier full-back?
