Manchester United complete £85million deal for Harry Maguire – Telegraph

Have Manchester United finally got their man?

Manchester United have reportedly completed a deal with Leicester for defender Harry Maguire, with the final fee set to reach £85 million.

Maguire’s future has been a hot topic in the press over the past two months or so.

The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move away from Leicester City.

Manchester United have been the most heavily linked club, however, rivals Manchester City were also reportedly interested.

Unfortunately for Pep Guardiola, it was reported by the Mirror in July that City would need to sell both Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolás Otamendi before moving to sign Maguire.

That left Man United looking like the most obvious choice for Maguire.

It was suggested on Wednesday that Man United had offered £80 million for the defender.

Now, it looks as though Manchester United have finally found an agreement with Leicester for Maguire, but they will have to pay more than £80 milllion.

Is Harry Maguire worth £85 million?

According to the Telegraph, ‘Harry Maguire’s long-running transfer saga is over with a £85m basic deal between Leicester City and Manchester United completed this morning’.

It’s said that the two clubs have now agreed a deal which would see Leicester receive the money they wanted up front, with add-ons to follow.

The deal would also comfortably make Maguire the most expensive defender in footballing history.

That mantle was previously held by Virgil van Dijk, who joined Liverpool for a fee in the region of £75 milllion.
