Jose Mourinho

Manchester United and Chelsea join Spurs in monitoring Everton man

Barkley is popular

Jose Mourinho has reportedly shown an interest in Ross Barkley as the summer transfer window rolls on.

The Manchester United boss, along with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the Everton player according to the Mail Online, who think that Barkley is someone all of the clubs think could add something to their midfield.

Spurs had been the front runners for Barkley, but after Chelsea and United have seen various other midfield targets fall through, they could be in the market for Barkley, which would obviously cause a bidding war.

Wage issues

One thing that had been thought to be holding up a move to Spurs was the wage demands of Barkley, who was thought to be asking for £150,000 per week, making him the highest paid player, and that was not something the north London club were willing to have.

Barkley has of course moved to dispel that, and made it clear that is not the case, but should more clubs come in for him, financial packages would obviously increase.
