Ian Wright has slammed Jose Mourinho after Manchester United drew 0-0 in the Champions League against Sevilla in their first leg of the knockout tie.
He hit out at the United boss and his side, and claimed they were nowhere near the United sides of old, and that they do not play good football – with Sevilla struggling to score, it was on United to attack and get an away goal, which they did not manage to do – and De Gea was once again left as their man of the match after keeping the side in the game more than once.
“Jose Mourinho talked about experts in football,” he said.
“You don’t have to be an expert for anyone involved with English football in the past 25 years to know that this team is nowhere near those past sides.
“Not that they can replicate them, but there is a certain way you have to play.
“I didn’t think they would come to Sevilla, not exactly renowned for scoring goals, and play this badly.”
One player who has come in for some flack recently is midfielder Paul Pogba, who was even dropped for the game against Sevilla, before having to come on when Ander Herrera went off injured, and it seems that he could struggle to impress Mourinho after it was made clear the United boss wasn’t impressed with him pulling out of the game on the weekend due to injury.
With Herrera looking injured, and possibly set to miss the Chelsea game, it could well be the case that Pogba does start as one of the midfield three, and the club will have to do far better against Chelsea than they did against Sevilla tonight.
