Manchester United rejected in £40m Aaron Wan-Bissaka bid – Sky

Wan-Bissaka impresses for Palace

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has spent all of his senior career honing his craft for Crystal Palace.

Wan-Bissaka would make his Premier League debut during the 2017/18 campaign in a 1-0 loss to Tottenham. He would go on to make six more league appearances that season.

The 2018/19 season, however, has certainly been the young right-back’s breakout campaign.

AWB would play 35 of Palace’s 38 PL games, in which he managed five assists.

Man United bid for AWB

After cementing himself as the Eagles’ number one right-back at such a young age, Wan-Bissaka has begun to attract the attention of some bigger clubs.

Manchester United have been the side most-frequently linked, with Sky Sports claiming today that the Red Devils have launched a bid for the 21-year-old. The bid is said to be a substantial one.

After Antonio Valencia departed the club this summer, and with Ashley Young now 33, it isn’t too much of a surprise that United are seemingly targeting a new right-back.

Wan-Bissaka also fits the mould of the new transfer strategy that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is said to want to adopt at Old Trafford.

According to the Evening Standard, Solskjaer wants to sign young emerging British talent who have the potential to develop into top stars.

AWB certainly ticks that box, as does Daniel James, who United have already signed this summer from Swansea.

However, given how poor United were last season, they may need to sign some already established players as well.

Fresh update

After reporting that United had bid for Wan-Bissaka late on Saturday night, Sky have since provided a fresh update, claiming that Palace rejected Man United’s £40 million bid, and that they may want around £60 million.
