Manchester United battle Liverpool to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea & Callum Hudson-Odoi

Why is it that a string of world football’s leading clubs are all interested in Callum Hudson-Odoi, yet Chelsea don’t seem that interested in the winger?

It’s been another remarkable week for Chelsea’s teenage forward.

Hudson-Odoi was originally drafted into the England U21 squad, however injuries saw him drafted into the Three Lions senior get-together.

But Hudson-Odoi didn’t just make up the numbers for Gareth Southgate.

The 18-year-old made his England debut on Friday night against Czech Republic scoring the fifth goal in a 5-0 win.

It’s worth remembering that Chelsea are yet to start Hudson-Odoi in a Premier League match.

Manchester United vs Liverpool

When it comes to Hudson-Odoi’s admirers, Bayern Munich have been leading the chase for some time.

Rumours have also linked Liverpool to the Chelsea youngster.

While on Sunday, the Mail throw Man United into the mix as well. Readers are told:

Manchester United have joined the chase for England and Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, who made a £35million bid in January, are also chasing the teenager.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s next move

Hudson-Odoi is under contract at Chelsea until 2020.

Chelsea are under facing a UEFA transfer ban for the next two windows.

The Blues are appealing that punishment. But in the event the ban sticks, one would assume Chelsea would be reticent to selling Hudson-Odoi.

Saying that, unless the youngster gets more minutes at Stamford Bridge, he could still force a move through.

Bayern Munich could be the smarter move. Jadon Sancho has shown how young English kids can prosper in the Bundesliga.

While Bayern are about to hit a major transition period with Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery dropping out the could.

Hudson-Odoi could fill one of those flanks positions at the Allianz Arena.

And Liverpool? Klopp could be viewing Hudson-Odoi as a future winger at Anfield.

The Chelsea winger would offer an alternative to mix up the Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Frimino triumvirate.

Would Hudson-Odoi get into the Man United team?

While some United fans may favour the teenager to the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard would arguably still be above Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order.
