Given Martial’s fractured relationship with Mourinho, United are willing to sell the French forward this summer and are desperate to avoid doing so to another Premier League club.

The club have subsequently devised a plan to use the 22-year-old as part of a deal to bring Boateng back to Manchester before August 9.

Mourinho has made his feelings clear over the club’s summer transfer business and Old Trafford official are working desperately to rectify the situation in the final week of the window.

Boateng, formerly of Manchester City, is a name high on Mourinho’s list of targets and United are preparing themselves to make their move to appease the manager.

Martial hits back at Mourinho

Anthony Martial departed Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States early following the birth of his child.

His unannounced departure has only further added to the tension between himself and Mourinho also landing him a fine worth £180k.

The forward took to Twitter to break his silence regarding his departure from United’s US tour.
