Manchester City’s Premier League title odds cut, Liverpool drift

Wins for Man City and Liverpool

Both Man City and Liverpool enjoyed flying starts in round one of the new season.

Starting at Anfield on Friday night, Liverpool had the three points wrapped up against Norwich at the break.

In a breakneck first forty-five, the Reds scored four times.

Grant Hanley’s own goal was followed by Mo Salah’s first of the year.

Virgil van Dijk and Divock Origi then found the target with respective headers.

Teemi Pukki scored a consolation for Norwich in the second-half.

As for Man City, they moved to the top of the league with a 5-0 win at West Ham.

Striker Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero both opened their accounts.

However, Raheem Sterling was the man of the match with a hat-trick.

Man City’s title odds cut, Liverpool drift

Man City have already seen their odds of winning the Premier League slashed by Ladbrokes.

Following their 5-0 demolishing of West Ham on Saturday, the bookies cut their odds of lifting the title from 1/2 to just 2/5, with Liverpool drifting slightly from 11/4 to 3/1.

Elsewhere, Man United have seen their odds of finishing in the top four cut to even-money, while Chelsea are the least-likely of the top six for a Champions League spot.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s early days but Man City demolished one of the best sides in the division outside of the top six so our traders have had no problem slashing their outright odds after just one game.”

He added: “But it looks as though it’ll be a tough 10 months for Frank Lampard and Chelsea – and the likes of Everton, West Ham, Wolves and Leicester must have every reason to believe they can break into the top six.”
