Manchester City vs Manchester United betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Manchester City vs Manchester United prediction: Manchester City 1-0 Manchester United

Unbeaten Manchester City are hoping to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a fourth successive win in the competition.

City have kept seven clean sheets from 11 matches this season and scored a league-high 33 goals.

Mourinho will have to get his tactics spot on if his side are to take anything from the match. United will look to soak up City’s pressure and hit the home side on the counter whenever possible.

Manchester City vs Manchester United: Who will win?

Manchester City are 2/5 favourites to win on Sunday while United are priced at 15/2. The draw can be backed at 17/4.

Three of the last four Manchester derbies at the Etihad have featured fewer than two goals. Under 2.5 goals can be backed at 7/4.

Sergio Aguero is the league’s joint-top scorer with seven goals. The Argentine is 13/5 to open the scoring and 4/7 to score anytime.

Manchester City vs Manchester United Premier League match preview

Manchester United take on derby rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

City head into the weekend as one of three sides still unbeaten in the competition. Pep Guardiola’s side picked up their ninth win of the campaign last weekend, thrashing Southampton 6-1 at home.

Raheem Sterling scored two and assisted two, while David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane also got their names on the scoresheet.

Having conceded just four league goals all season, City’s goal difference is already +29. By comparison, United’s goal difference is +1.

Manchester United moved up into 7th last weekend following their narrow 2-1 win at Bournemouth.

United went behind early on before Anthony Martial equalised with his fifth goal in four league matches. Marcus Rashford then netted a stoppage-time winner to move United within four points of the top four.

The Red Devils came from behind to win last season’s corresponding fixture in April, delaying City’s title celebrations by an extra week. Goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan had City 2-0 up at the break before a Paul Pogba-inspired second half earned the visitors a memorable 3-2 win.

History is unlikely to repeat itself on Sunday as Guardiola has never lost consecutive home league matches against the same opponent in his managerial career.

The two sides have met 42 times in the Premier League, with City winning 13 to United’s 21.

Midweek wins

Both sides bagged wins in their respective midweek Champions League matches.

Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick in City’s 6-0 thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night. David Silva and Riyad Marhez were the other goalscorers.

United came from behind to earn a famous victory in Turin on Wednesday. Mourinho’s side left it late, as goals from Juan Mata and Rashford secured a 2-1 win over Juventus.
