Manchester City to reward John Stones with new contract and may face competition for Lukaku

John Stones

City no longer looking to sell

John Stones looks set to complete a remarkable turnaround in fortunes as The Times today report he is set to be offered a new contract.

Stones signed for the current Premier League leaders for £47.5 million in 2016 and the former Everton man is set to be rewarded with a new deal after impressing in their current run which seems destined to end with them being crowned champions.

Stones had previously slipped down the pecking order at City and was considered likely to leave last summer but his recent displays alongside Ruben Dias has seen the club concede just 2 goals in their last 14 games.

Dias, who arrived for £65 million from Benfica has previously spoken about their partnership saying that ‘The connection with John has been just brilliant.”

Pep Guardiola is keen for the England international to stay at the club and sign on for the future.

As reported yesterday, City may not be the only club interested in Inter Milan’s Romeluu Lukaku as reports from Italy suggest that PSG are also interested in the former Man Utd hitman, who has scored 20 in 27 games this season. The club are looking to add even more fire power to assist Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Man City are considering their options if indeed Aguero ends his ten year stay at the club and the Belgian international is one of the names linked and we can expect a bidding war if both clubs follow up on their interest.
