Manchester City are considering making a move for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in January, according to Telegraph Sport.
The Premier League champions are seeking a long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
Having failed to sign Jorginho, who eventually joined Chelsea, Pep Guardiola remains keen to sign a midfielder.
Manchester City target Ndombele
Guardiola is fearful of the impact an injury to Fernandinho could have to his Manchester City side.
He is therefore keen to bring in an alternative to the Brazilian and Ndombele been identified as a similar player.
It is understood that City have kept a close eye on the 21-year-old who has impressed with Lyon over this season and last.
Oleksandr Zinchenko could be used as part of a deal to bring the Frenchman to the Etihad.
Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing the player.
Ndombele’s assist vs Manchester City

City have lined up two alternatives to Ndombele: Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves and AFC Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong.
