Manchester City provide injury update on Leroy Sane

West Ham vs Man City

Manchester City will kick off their Premier League title defence on Saturday the 10th of August.

City will travel to West Ham in the day’s early kick-off, as they look to go for their 3rd straight PL title.

Man City won all of the English domestic trophies last season. And they have already picked up one in the 2019/20 campaign.

City beat Liverpool earlier this month in the 2019 Community Shield, winning 5-4 on penalties.

As for West Ham, they have been fairly busy in the summer transfer window, adding some top players, such as Sebastien Haller and Pablo Fornals.

Sane injury update

During the aforementioned Community Shield tie, Leroy Sane had to be taken off with an injury during the first-half.

City had kept pretty quiet about the injury up until Thursday, when they released an update on the German.

And it does not look good for the winger. City have confirmed that Sane has damaged the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

The rest of the update from Man City reads as follows:

The flying winger picked up an injury in the opening stages of City’s Community Shield triumph over Liverpool at Wembley Stadium.

He [Sane] has undergone testing throughout the week, with a specialist doctor travelling to Manchester for further examinations to understand the extent of the injury.

Leroy will have surgery in the coming week. Manchester City will provide Leroy with all the support and guidance he needs, and everyone connected with the Club wishes him a quick and full recovery.

Sane has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, but with the attacker now set for a spell on the sidelines, one would assume that Bayern will end their interest, for now at least.
