He will stay
Sergio Aguero will not be leaving Manchester City – this summer at least.
That’s according to manager Pep Guardiola, who was speaking during the pre-season tour of the USA, amid links between Aguero and Premier League rivals Chelsea.
BBC Sport report Guardiola said: “He’s our player. He will remain here.”
That of course seems to be the sensible course of action for Man City – selling to rivals Chelsea would hardly be ideal to say the very least, and add to that the fact Alexis Sanchez does not look like leaving Arsenal no matter how many times he moans in interviews this summer, and it makes sense to keep a forward who is a proven goalscorer at the club.
No Chelsea move
That may be good news for Manchester City after their Sanchez blow, but it is not ideal for Chelsea, who have been let down by another so called transfer target this summer.
That being said, the Blues are now thought to be heavy favourites for Alvaro Morata, who seems certain to join them after betting was suspended on his future.
Diego Costa meanwhile has seen Atletico Madrid distance themselves from a move for him this summer, with their president claiming he will only return to Madrid on holiday, and the club will not be landing anyone during their ban.
