Managerless Tottenham keen on French winger Marcus Thuram

Tottenham turn to Thuram for more firepower

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing themselves for Harry Kane’s seemingly imminent departure by proactively aiming to reinforce their attack.

Despite having no manager at the moment, the North London club are reportedly keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach’s French forward Marcus Thuram this summer, as they move to bolster their attacking options.

Valued at 31 million pounds by transfermarkt, the Frenchman provided 8 goals and 7 assists in his 29 Bundesliga appearances across 20/21, and at 23 years old, looks set to enter the prime of his career imminently.

It remains to be seen how much Gladbach will demand for their young attacker, though the lack of European football at the German club next season could well prove a decisive factor.

Spurs can only offer the UEFA Conference League, the third tier of European football, but it remains a step up from Thuram’s current predicament.

Moreover, Borussia Monchengladbach have undergone a change of management, with the highly-rated Marco Rose having departed for Borussia Dortmund and been replaced by Adi Hutter. Whilst it remains unclear how this affects Thuram, it is possible that the Frenchman could find himself a victim of regime change.

The work of the new director of football?

It has been widely rumoured that Fabio Paratici, once of Juventus, is set to take up the role of Tottenham’s Director of Football in the coming days.

Spurs remain without a manager since they sacked Jose Mourinho in April, with caretaker Ryan Mason having stepped down at the end of the season. It remains unclear who their main target will be, with an approach for Antonio Conte having fallen through last week.

As a result, it seems that any move for Thuram is entirely down to the early work of Paratici, something that Spurs fans will be eager to see continue.
