Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed the reason for Anthony Martial’s limited appearances despite his impressive performances.
The Frenchman has scored eight goals so far this season and has impressed but has not been giving a starting role at the club.
That has come much to the disappointment of Man United fans who continue to see the players quality from the bench.
This comes following the players’ goal against Watford having started the game but was replaced by Marcus Rashford later in the game.
Rashford and Martial are the two players who have been rotated by Mourinho rather than attempting to bring both players in at the same time.
Though, Jose Mourinho has now revealed why he continues to use the player sparingly despite his impressive cameos.
“I think he suffers a little bit with an accumulation of matches,” Mourinho told United’s official website.
“I could feel that in the second half he was going down and down and down.”
“He’s still a young guy and his body, his biological situation has space to improve but in the first half, during the time, he had strength and explosion in his legs. He was dangerous and [scored] an important goal.”
Anthony Martial will be looking to get his fitness up to scratch ahead of the clash with Arsenal this weekend in which could be pivotal in their title hopes.
Man United dealt huge injury blow
While Man United are keeping tabs on Martial’s fitness, they have been dealt a huge blow to the fitness of another player.
In fact, that blow comes in the form of a big injury to one of their best players after the game against Watford.
This could certainly have adverse effects on the clubs hopes of catching Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
