Man United’s Paul Pogba aims dig at Jose Mourinho’s management style whilst praising Solskjaer

Jose Mourinho was of course the manager of Manchester United between the summer of 2016 and December of 2018.

One of the most notable things to happen early in the Portuguese’s reign at Old Trafford was the signing of Paul Pogba for a then world-record fee of £89m.

Pogba had been incredibly impressive during his stint in Turin and United fans were no doubt eager to see what he could do under the guidance of serial winner, Jose Mourinho.

To say Pogba’s time under Mourinho was underwhelming, though, would be putting it lightly.

The former Chelsea manager had no problems digging out his players in public and Pogba was seemingly a constant target of that, with Mourinho even branding the Frenchman a virus right at the end of his stint in the Man United dugout.

Pogba aims dig at Jose

As soon as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over, however, Pogba’s form took a serious upturn.

In Ole’s first nine Premier League games, Pogba would net eight and provide five assists.

Granted, the 28-year-old hasn’t been that impressive throughout all of the Norwegian’s tenure, but he has been much better than what we saw under Mourinho.

Now, in a recent interview, Pogba has been aiming a less than subtle dig at Mourinho whilst praising his current boss at the same time.

Pogba stated that the difference between Mourinho and Solskjaer is that the former would not just go against his players and ignore them:

“What I have now with Ole is different, he wouldn’t go against the players

“He wouldn’t go against the players.

“Maybe Ole wouldn’t pick them, but it’s not like he puts them on the side like they don’t exist anymore. That’s the difference between Mourinho and Ole.”

Pogba was also fairly unsure why his relationship with Mourinho deteriorated so much:

“Once I had a great relationship with Mourinho, everybody saw that, and the next day you don’t know what happened. That’s the strange thing I had with Mourinho and I cannot explain to you because even I don’t know. So, yeah.”
