Marcos Rojo received an energy boost last night during Manchester United’s win over FC Rostov in the Europa League.
While on the field of play, the defender ate a banana, sending Twitter into a frenzy.
Man United won the tie 2-1 on aggregate, advancing to the last eight of the competition. They will find out their opponents on Friday morning.
Speaking to a reporter after the match, Rojo confirmed he was drug tested by UEFA officials.
According to the Argentine it was a ‘random’ drug test. But given the events that transpired on the pitch, it probably wasn’t a complete coincidence that Rojo was once of the players selected for a test.
Fortunately for Rojo, excessive levels of potassium are permissible.
Spoke to Rojo after the match. He was last out after a random drug test. Thankfully bananas are not on list of banned substances.
