Man United & Luke Shaw
If all the paper reports are to be believed, the pendulum has swung significantly for Luke Shaw at Manchester United this season.
Prior to the January transfer window, many expected that Shaw would be sold by Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has been openly critical of the former Southampton left-back. While Shaw has sometimes struggled to impress on the pitch at Old Trafford, he’s also been sidelined for much of his United career with injury problems.
Yet, according to the Mirror on Thursday, Shaw could now be set for a new Man United deal.
Jose Mourinho’s Shaw u-turn?
Shaw, 22, is out of contract at Old Trafford in 2019.
But the Mirror believe the defender may soon sign a new deal to remain with the Red Devils:
Luke Shaw is in line to win a new long-term deal at Manchester United before the end of the season.
The player still has 18 months left on his £80,000-a-week contract, after United took up a one-year option last year to automatically extend his deal into 2019.
Sadly no details are provided about the rumoured new deal for Shaw.
For the record, Shaw have made five Premier League appearances for Man United this season. Last weekend he completed 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield at the Theatre of Dreams.
Newcastle vs Man United
On Sunday Newcastle United will host Manchester United in the Premier League.
The Red Devils come into the game second in the table. Last time out they beat Huddersfield 2-0 as Alexis Sanchez got off the mark.
As for Newcastle, they picked up a point at Crystal Palace.
The Magpies remain deep in the relegation mire. Sixteenth in the table, Newcastle are just one point above the bottom three.
