Man United’s Chris Smalling injury blow vs Fulham

Man United’s injury troubles

Manchester United are having a rather tough time in terms of injuries recently.

Alexis Sanchez is out with a thigh injury and is unlikely to feature for Man United again in 2019.

Victor Lindelof, arguably United’s best centre-back this season is also out with a thigh injury.

Man United also lost their star forward Anthony Martial during their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Wednesday.

Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw are also dealing with injuries, meaning United’s backline is down to its bare bones.

The game would get off to a good start for United as Ashley Young put them 1-0 up in the 13th minute.

Juan Mata would then double United’s lead in the 29th minute.

Romelu Lukaku would then score his first goal at Old Trafford since March to make it 3-1.

Fulham would pull one back from the penalty spot but a Marcus Rashford stunner would make it 4-1 and give United all three points.

However, despite ending their four-match winless run, there was some bad news for United coming out of Saturday’s win.

Chris Smalling would be taken off in the 58th minute due to an injury and would head straight down the tunnel.

This means Man United now have just Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo as fit central defenders.

This is a major blow for United who have a midweek trip to Valencia coming up, followed by a huge clash with Liverpool next Sunday.
