Manchester United vs Liverpool

After plenty of anticipation in recent days, today is finally the day when Man United take on Liverpool in the Premier League.

The stakes before Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford are incredibly high.

Starting with Liverpool, a win at their M62 rivals will lift them three points clear of Man City in the title race.

However Man United will be pumped to beat Liverpool.

Not only do the Red Devils need the win to boost their own top four hopes, but United also want to prevent Liverpool from winning their first championship in 29 years.

Graeme Souness launches fresh attack on Paul Pogba

Most weekends Graeme Souness pens an op-ed for the Sunday Times.

If Souness is known for one thing in the punditry world, it’s his dislike of Paul Pogba.

Pogba has appeared a player reborn since the departure of Jose Mourinho from United.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Pogba has been pushed further forward.

In return, the French World Cup winner has been amongst the goals while chipping in with plenty of assists too.

So is Souness impressed with Pogba? Ish.

The title and sub-heading of Souness’s article reads:

Let’s not get carried away over Paul Pogba – Can the Frenchman pull Man Utd’s strings against Liverpool at Old Trafford today?

Paul Pogba: PSG & Downing tools

Souness is happy to pick out existing flaws in Pogba’s game.

To do that, Souness referred to Pogba’s performance vs PSG and the midfielder’s attitude under Mourinho:

I was critical of Paul Pogba, in particular, but was I wrong?

Look at the difference in him between then and now, and let’s not get carried away either: he never got a kick against PSG, then showed his frustration by lunging at Dani Alves and being sent off.

I find it disappointing that all of them, not just Pogba, downed tools under Mourinho. I’d have hated to be accused of that in my career, but it appears to be the reality in the modern game when players want a manager out. It was as if they were on an unofficial strike.
