According to a report from the Sunday Express, Premier League giants Manchester United are readying a bid for Real Madrid midfield enforcer Casemiro.
Casemiro, a 25-year-old Brazilian international, has been on the books of Los Blancos since arriving with a big reputation from San Paulo in 2013.
However, while he was already highly regarded in his home country, it took Casemiro a couple of years to establish himself as a regular at the Bernabeu, with the South American spending the majority of his first campaign with the club’s B team, before being sent out on loan to Porto for the 2014-15 campaign.
And it was at Porto that the powerful midfielder began to show his true worth, with Real eventually deciding that his presence would represent the perfect foil for their world-class pairing of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the middle of the park.
As a result, Casemiro has been an absolute mainstay for the Champions League holders for the last two seasons, even popping up with crucial goals on occasion.
On the move?
While it would likely take a monumental fee to coax the 18-time capped Selecao international away from the Spanish capital, reports in England today nonetheless suggest that Manchester United are preparing a bid.
As per the aforementioned report from the Sunday Express, the Red Devils will offer Casemiro a massive salary at Old Trafford in an attempt to convince him to move to the Premier League.
It remains to be seen how much credibility there is to these rumours, however, with United already possessing Nemanja Matic, who was only purchased this summer, as their first-choice deep-lying midfielder.
