Huddersfield 2 – Manchester United 1
It remains the shock result of the weekend and could well go down as the surprise victory of the season as well.
No one saw Huddersfield’s 2-1 win over Manchester United coming, except perhaps David Wagner.
Huddersfield were superb against Manchester United and in many cases played the game of their lives against the Red Devils.
Laurent Depoitre and Aaron Mooy scored before half-time. Marcus Rashford pulled one back late on for Manchester United.
Anthony Martial gets away with kick out on Tom Smith
It could have been a lot worse for Manchester United as well.
Anthony Martial was involved in an incident early on in the Premier League match with Huddersfield right back Tom Smith.
The Huddersfield defender put in a high challenge on Martial, raking his studs down his shin.
Martial responded angrily and appeared to kick out on Tom Smith.
Anthony Martial v Tom Smith
Both Martial and Smith were booked by referee Lee Mason.
Smith was somewhat fortunate that he did not see red and this would have changed the complexion of the game completely.
On Monday, ESPN reporter Rob Dawson has announced on Twitter that the FA investigated the incident.
Martial gets away with it
As a result, Martial is somewhat fortunate to have got away with his kick out which will not be referred to a disciplinary panel.
This could well have seen Martial miss three games and Manchester United fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Manchester United have some crucial games coming up, including Swansea in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, then Spurs in the Premier League at home before a trip to Chelsea.
Understand FA have looked at alleged kick from Martial on Smith off the ball on Saturday but decided not to refer it to disciplinary panel.
